Helping make sure your home's plumbing fixtures are in good order
As a small business owner my goal is to become your trusted Brisbane plumbing partner. That is why I have decided to offer a free home plumbing inspection with every residential job I do. Once I have completed the work you booked me in for, with your permission I will inspect your home's plumbing system and components and report back with my findings.
What is a home plumbing inspection?
During the inspection I will look over most of your home's main plumbing system components to make sure they are in good working order. I will check for anything that may be damaged, faulty, missing or showing wear and tear. The purpose of this is to identify anything which should be fixed now before it becomes a bigger problem later on. Doing so can save you a lot of money, grief and property damage in the future. As always prevention is the best medicine, especially when it comes to plumbing.
What do I check during the inspection?
- Flexi-hose connections - making sure these are not kinked, rusted or prone to bursting in the near future.
- Water pressure - checking the incoming water supply pressure does not exceed 500KPa as per Australian standards and checking valves and taps for any signs of low water pressure which may indicate seized valves, blocked aerators or filters.
- Gas appliances - checking for non-compliant installations.
- Sink drains - ensuring water is properly draining with no signs of a partial blockage.
- Toilets - making sure the cistern components are in good order, the full and half flush is operating correctly, and water is not leaking into the bowl from the system. Even a slight trickle can easily be overseen and cause a massive water bill.
- Taps and faucets - checking these both indoors and outside for any signs of leaks, drips or damage.
- Hot water system - making sure all components for the system and connected valves are functioning correctly. Certain valves on some hot water systems do need to be replaced at intervals not exceeding five years as per the manufacturer specifications This will prolong the life of tank. I also ensure 50° is not exceeded at any outlet in your bathroom as per Australian standards so people cannot burn themselves.
- Stormwater system - visual inspection of gutters and downpipes for missing components, rust or any non compliance.
You'll check all this for free? What's the catch?
Providing this free service is a win-win for both my customers and myself. As a customer you will benefit from getting on top of any potential issues now before they become very costly later, or even worse, damage your property in the future. For myself, I want to earn your trust to become your long-term plumbing partner you turn to whenever you need any plumbing done. I will give you a no obligation free quote with my recommendations, and we can discuss if you'd like me to go ahead at a time and day that is convenient for you.
Benefits of getting a home plumbing inspection done
Save money on future plumbing work
Addressing minor plumbing issues now will potentially save you thousands later. As an example I may identify high water pressure that could cause a burst water pipe/flexi-hose or leaking fixtures. Fixing this now with a simple valve installation or replacement will prolong the lifetime of your fixtures and save you money on your water bill for years to come. Often issues I identify here you may not even be aware be of.
Preventing damage to your property
Sometimes I shake my head when I see something so simple like a burst flexi-hose which has flooded a kitchen causing thousands of dollars in damages. This could have been so easily preventable just by checking and replacing inexpensive flexi-hoses before they deteriorated to this point.
Ensuring your plumbing and gas is compliant
During my inspection I will be able to identify anything in your home's plumbing or gas systems which may not be compliant with council or Australian standards. These may affect your insurance claims and present fundamental issues with the overall efficacy of your plumbing and gas system.
Preventing potential health hazards
Plumbing and gas issues can often become hazardous to your family's health. Examples includes leaks or overflow in the sewerage and gas systems leading to poisoning, or the presence of toxic mould from internal burst pipes or stormwater buildup causing all types of health issues.
An honest, transparent and long-term partnership approach
Unlike some other plumbers, I will never try and upsell you a service or product which you don't need. All recommendations I give from each inspection are based upon my 22+ years experience as a licensed plumber and gasfitter of what needs to be done now to prevent issues in the future. I'm not after a quick cash-grab so you'll never see me again like some plumbers. My business model is dependent on repeat business and doing a great job so you recommend me to your friends and family. The only way I can do this is by looking after you and earning your trust by providing quality workmanship at quality prices.
How often should I get a home plumbing inspection?
Ideally you should be getting this done annually. Doing so ensures you keep on top of any potential problems before they blow out. A lot can happen in a year when it comes to your home's plumbing, especially in Brisbane where we get some pretty wild weather and storms which exacerbate a lot of issues.
